Mardi Gras Beads with Condoms

Mardi Gras is the celebration leading up to Shrove Tuesday.  Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the long days of fasting that comes during Lent that many Christian churches follow and this fasting continues up to Easter.  New Orleans is the place thought of at the mention of Mardi Gras, although many cities have their own Mardi Gras celebration.  With parades, people dressed in costumes and dancing in the streets, Mardi Gras is carnival time.  Many are now including Mardi Gras beads with condoms in their festivities in an effort to spread awareness and keep sexual activity safe.

Mardi Gras Party

Some of the biggest items associated with Mardi Gras are the flashing of breasts by young women and some men along with the throwing of colorful bead necklaces to all the spectators along the parade routes.  Many bead necklace Mardi Gras Beadsmakers are adding extra touches to the beads being thrown.  This small addition is the colorful wrapped condoms attached to the beads.  This addition of condoms is a quiet way to influence safe sex during the carnival atmosphere that is all part of the history and tradition of Mardi Gras.

Please Use a Condom

It is not a matter of being in New Orleans, or in Soulard of St. Louis, no matter the city, STD Testing centers are busy after Mardi Gras celebrations as few remember if a condom was worn or not, but the partying was wild.  The partying may be good, but the spread of sexually transmitted diseases during and after Mardi Gras is a yearly problem.  With the flow of alcohol and the dancing in the streets, there are many of the participants that blame the drunkenness on getting pregnant or an STD.  This is the reason condom manufactures are helping by working with bead necklace factories to add the condom as a part of a campaign to decrease the spread of sexually transmitted diseases during the celebration time before Lent.

Of course, the Mardi Gras beads with condoms is not a guarantee that safe sex will be practiced, but this is a part of awareness.  The CDC has documented that Chlamydia increases during the party atmosphere of Mardi Gras and for sometime afterward.  Some other concerns with all the unprotected sex is also the spread of other diseases, especially the contracting of HIV/AIDS among some groups.  The important issue is to get tested by visiting an STD Testing center when unprotected sex has occurred.  Early detection can increase the chance of a cure and the diseases not to continue to be spread.

Enjoy Mardi Gras by wearing costumes that are purple, green and gold in color.  Add masks, wigs, feather boas, lots of colored beads to your wardrobe.  Enjoy the music of jazz and blues, dance in the street with all of the carnival participants that are enjoying the festivities.  Drink in moderation and practice safe sex.  If there is a hook up with a stranger, visit a STD Testing center or health care facility and take steps to remain health for many Mardi Gras to come.
